Balance
I went to the NAPO (National Association of
Professional Organizers) Conference last month. I
learned so much, and enjoyed it tremendously. They
had classes specifically on Organizing, classes
about business in general, but also keynote
speakers. And I have to tell you, the thing that
impacted me most was the keynote speaker Jack
Canfield (author of ‘Chicken Soup for the Soul’
books). He gave his Seven Vision Categories, and
for me, this was gold! I’ve always had a rough idea
of what I need to do to keep my life in balance,
but I’ve never seen it outlined as clearly as Jack
Canfield has:
1. Financial (for me, it’s completing my life
insurance application process and continuing to
invest in my future.)
2. Business & Career (for me, it’s continuing to
actively grow my organizing business.)
3. Fun Time & Recreation (for me, play tennis with
my husband more and go to the beach more.)
4. Health & Fitness (for me, I want to do my yoga
stretches every morning and not just some mornings
and stay on track with my chiropractor program.)
5. Relationships (for me, it’s focusing on patient
and understanding in all my relationships.)
6. Personal (for me, it’s remembering to trust my
instincts, and staying grounded spiritually in
order to handle stress.)
7. Contribution (your legacy-how do you want to
make a difference? Me-I have lots of ideas and am
still working on this…)
If you give a little of yourself in each category,
then you will be set for life . So, print this
out, take out a pen, and jot down the first things
that come to mind. And put it into action by
scheduling it on your calendar and telling your
accountability partner (that person who will hold
you to your word and make sure you get it done. It
could be your spouse, best friend, business
partner, etc.).
